Competition always requires a balance between emotions and reason. It’s not easy, most of the time people wants to hear at the heat of the moment. But this is part of the entertainment. Deal with no fix message and being kind and humble always makes the message lighter. People expect athletes to be normal, dealing with frustrations but at the same respecting the others, mainly opponents, not taking personally and outside of the competition.

From my experience, especially when dealing with issues that could become major PR disasters, it is important always to keep several things in mind. The relationship you build with media requires honesty as it is a partnership. You can't afford to mislead the media, as it will burn you in the future. Everything leaks at some point, so you must be on the front foot with the media as your partners. At the same time, you must keep your organisation's priorities in mind. Remembering these things, you can shape your responses to any situation without losing trust. In any situation, I constantly run all the possible media headlines in my head, making sure we never say or release anything without having a clear outcome that we expect.

As a Chief Physiotherapist and Head of Training, I always thought my juniors first things: be honest to yourself and supervisor. If you are not sure about any knowledge or hands-on skills, please do not be scare or ashamed of yourself. Be honest to yourself first, accept that you're still in the steps of learning. Everyone does including me! Haha, although I'm a leader, I knew that there's always someone that's more experienced than me =)
