As a team leader, first consider this situation as Strength and Opportunity. Why should you expect everyone to have same style? Identify their uniqueness, use them to convert that into advantage. Create an environment where everyone understands their and others uniqueness, appreciates each other, supports each other. They feel proud as individual and as team due to their unique styles of working. They don’t just copy or compete each others, they work & grow together uniquely! Be proud of having such team actually!

We can't expect all people have the same style of work. Something that we should believe, everyone has strength and weakness points. Put the right man at the right place to achieve team goals. Make them collaborate and have a regular check points to ensure we run on the track.

Managing a team with different work styles is not difficult. It is important that Teams are aligned with common goals of the organisation. There should be transparent communication amongst the team with clear direction from Management. Teams should be heard for their ideas to improve goals and should be communicated with clarity if we do not agree with their ideas. Each individual has some different way to contribute and improve the goals. If we want to run a successful organisation, we should work as an enabler and create more leaders, accept differences and use them for betterment and to achieve goals together, learn from each other’s strengths and failures. Finally, grow together as a team of successful people.

Additionally, fostering an environment where diverse ideas and perspectives are valued encourages innovative solutions to challenges like preventing shortages or adapting plans to demand shifts. The key lies in balancing flexibility and structure, turning the diversity of styles into a driver for efficiency and results.

Styles can be different, it is even a good thing, but the goals have to be the same. Some people needs and like to have more freedom, while others need more constant supervision. Experience also matters on this aspect. Have clear rules and expectations set from their management is making it clearer. The management style of the manager also influence the styles, by setting the baseline closer or not to some people styles. At the end of the day, communication and clear directions are the key to suceed with any style.

Start with manage less! Because that means as a leader you trust your team and that’s a good starting point. I am sure once the basics like clear goals, deadlines, interdependencies have been set up give your team the spade and independence to accomplish things their own way. Don’t expect them to perform like one but instead channelise their strengths to achieve more success. Most often we worry about the weaknesses and set about giving tasks to improve weaknesses but that it sub optimal because each team member is unique Think of chess, each piece is distinctive and cannot do what others can but as a team they can complement each other and checkmate! Don’t take too much responsibility for them. Let them fly ..

Each of us is unique , everyone have unique strength and their own challenge to further develop themselves. As a leader we need to understand what motivates and drives each of our team. Be a good listener and change your style from Boss to Coach will allow you to create personalized management strategies which will drive higher engagement, improve performance, and lead to a more satisfied and productive team.
