Its a challenging job to keep service operations smooth as possible as there are unplanned calls suddenly come up and demands immediate attention. Following points will help.. (1) Always make visit plan for 2-3 weeks ahead. (2) make sure to do the PMs on time and perfect(helps reducing breakdown calls) (3) Keep team engaged. Always show them planned work ahead of them. Talk regularly with them. At least once in a day to check all going ok or any support required. They are the ones who are doing the hardwork. keeping them motivated is most important. (4) Ask team to plan leaves and holidays in advance so that they will also enjoy work-life balance. (5) Have a review calls once in a week at least to see if trains running on time
