What strategies have you found useful for fostering collaboration between different teams?

The most important thing in collaboration is actually working together. UX designers, visual designers and developers should all work together in the same team and the same team room and continuously engage with each other.

When carrying out a mobile project, there are many cases where the opinions of UX developers and app developers conflict. When there is a conflict of interest, the first thing to consider is the customer. Although it is not possible to absolutely accept the UX opinion, it is desirable to accept the opinions of the UX developer more, because the priority is to not cause usability problems from the customer's perspective.

I will ensure that all design decisions, user flows, and technical constraints are documented clearly and shared with both teams. Jira, Slack, Confluence etc. are very good team communication tools which I always found very useful for team coordination. This documentation serves as a reference point, minimizing confusion and ensuring alignment. Also I organize regular cross-functional reviews meeting (addressed by PPP-Progress, Problem & Plan) where developers and UX designers share progress and discuss challenges. If transparent communication is there in any Project, there will be very less chance of Failures or delay in project.

To bridge the gap between app developers and UX designers, start with a shared vision by having collaborative discussions and focusing on user needs. Maintain open communication through shared tools and regular feedback while involving both teams in planning and reviews. Build mutual understanding through workshops, knowledge sharing, and job shadowing. Use agile methods for smoother collaboration and ensure a proper handoff with clear documentation and tools like Figma or Zeplin. Align on common success metrics and foster a culture of respect to work together effectively and create user-friendly solutions.

To bridge the gap between app developers and UX designers in a mobile project, create a shared vision early on. Host joint brainstorming sessions to align on user needs and technical possibilities. Encourage developers to participate in design reviews and designers to attend coding demos. This cross-involvement builds mutual respect and understanding. Simplify communication by using shared documentation where both teams can contribute and reference. This approach ensures both sides work together seamlessly for a user-friendly and functional app.
