This is a tough one and I must say, it depends. Ideally, based on the Law of Conservation of Mass that states mass can neither the created nor destroyed, we do not have to worry about the effects of mankind on the earth. Mankind and the earth exist in a self balance. Subjectively, the human mind is biased and needs environmental awareness to manage their Abode as per contemporary expectations. Example one, adaptation happens naturally with change and it's inevitable in the ideal. Example two, campaign to replace natural diamonds market with lab made diamonds! Way forward, we need environmental awareness to meet legal requirements including in mining projects. As a leader, oneself is obliged to comply. But in absolute, spare yourself!
