In my experience, helping clients see the value in energy storage starts with understanding their pain points - high electricity costs or power reliability issues. I focus on translating benefits into business language they understand. What works well is offering a free site analysis. This gets us in the door and lets us build a business case using their data. Since C&I projects involve multiple stakeholders, I tailor the message - ROI for finance teams, reliability for operations, carbon metrics for sustainability leads. Being transparent about payback periods while highlighting incentives and showing examples helps overcome hesitation. Most importantly, I position storage as a strategic investment rather than just a cost-saving measure.

I believe it’s important for people to understand the electrical transmission and distribution system in its simplest terms, this in turn helps remove some of the confusion. Engineers have a key role in helping translate complex electrical systems into language everyone can understand. Only then will inexperienced clients see the potential and the opportunity. The right leaders / clients will see the value from that point forward

The best investments on the renewable energy are those that aim to cover a specific pain. For instance, a retail store in Switzerland with the refrigeration system and a high peak demand over summer, pays an extra cost of ~ 10 EUR per kW of highest peak demand. I will demonstrate the decision maker with how an array of solar panel can considerably cut this peak and together with reduction in consumption I will calculate the Return on Investment period. After the word "Revenue", the word "Saving" is the language that every business understand. If the users understands the grid operation and flexibility market, I will start talking to them about this opportunity as well.
