Most of the problems with rendering are rooted in your hardware capabilities! Usually error occur when you run out of RAM or VRAM. In order to prevent this, you can reduce the poly count or get rid of some light sources and use an HDRI instead.

First, check your PC/hardware. Basically 3D modeling uses CPU and RAM more, while rendering uses GPU/VRAM more. For instance, by today's standards, you would need atleast 16GB of RAM to be able to do 3D models smoothly. Second, you can reduce your 3D model's load on the PC by removing unnecessary objects and reducing polygon count. An example is working with landscape entourage such as trees and vegetation. You can use VRay proxy (for SketchUp+VRay) to create proxies/subsitutes for trees with high polygon and material count. Also, purge your model from time to time. Third, once your model is ready, do a test render first with a low resolution image to see if you're satisfied with the image output (e.g. scene, lighting).

You need to have a strict work flow .. 1.Clean modeling avoid as much as possible merging useless models to your scene that will not add a value to your work. 2. Optimise your lighting: make sure that your scene is well lighted ( avoid ies lights you can easy replace them with directional lights ) 3. Correct texturing and studied bumps and displacement can reduce time rendering .

If you're working with a large amount of dataset and also trying to put out the highest resolution products, more than likely you'll encounter rendering issues. Furthermore, the computer being used must have the processing capabilities to do the job. For professional high quality hitch-free 3D modelling, a minimum of 16GB RAM is a good start point.

Hardware is most likely culprit. If your rig is unoptimized for the current design software you're using, there will be frequent crashes and rendering will take an exceedingly long time. Upgrading your ram and GPU could help, depending on the capabilities and compatibility of your motherboard. And if you're designing on a laptop, good luck with that. There are few options other than exporting the file and doing it on desktop. Although laptops can be reliable with today's standards for hardware in laptops, it is more preferred to model in a more flexible dynamic environment, because laptops are limited because their components are less reliable. Upgrading to a desktop would help.
