My experience has shown me that in such meetings, ideas and suggestions are often raised that have broadened my perspective, helping to enhance my creativity in the design. Sometimes, their encouragement has even given me the confidence to be bolder in my design decisions.

Remember who you are designing for. Of course your designs should tickle your own fancy, but it's more important to serve the community you are designing for. Whether your client is local government (the public), commercial, or domestic, you should begin by understanding the user needs and keep those in mind throughout the whole process. Although you may assume you understand their needs, until you begin a dialogue with them, you'll never know for certain.
