♟️ Addressing resistance to strategic initiatives is about empathy, clarity, and collaboration. 🗣️ Begin by creating an open dialogue. Understand the concerns driving resistance—this builds trust and shows respect for your team’s perspectives. 🤲 Share the broader vision and purpose behind the initiative. People are more likely to embrace change when they see how it connects to a shared future. 🗺️ Encourage active participation by inviting feedback and adapting as needed. When people feel part of the journey, they’re more willing to move forward. 👉🏻 For more insights, explore “Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard” by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. 📚 #Strategy #ChangeManagement #StrategicAlignment

1. Check yourself + walk a mile in your team's shoes. Is it possible you're chasing shiny objects? Genuinely invest time in understanding their objections. 2. Start with why. If the why is not clear, it's hard to get buy-in for change management and, possibly, dropping everything else in favor of the new initiative. 3. Help ground the team and emphasize "what will stay the same" in the new normal. We often get hung up on the changes, but there's an opportunity to give comfort and consistency in existing strengths/opportunities.

It's about effective communication which starts with listening and then a good dose of "sell not tell". Ramming a misunderstood strategy into an organisation may create surface compliance however most likely not enthusiastic buy in. I am a great believer in the 200 word strategy. Say it in 200 words without charts which is about as much as most people can digest and pass on. If you need lots of charts then your strategy is probably too complicated.

Facing resistance to new strategic initiatives requires clear communication and a collaborative approach. Start by explaining the vision behind the changes and how they align with organizational goals. Actively listen to concerns and address them with empathy, offering data or examples to build confidence. Involve stakeholders in the planning process to create a sense of ownership. Highlight the potential benefits of the initiative and provide support or resources to ease the transition. Reinforce trust through consistent actions and open dialogue to foster acceptance over time.

They will all come at it from different angles, just be clear on the choices you are making and the rationale that sits behind it all.
