Timeline delays can happen due to 3 reasons. 1) Scope creep 2) Unexpected situations 3) A faulty project plan To address the after effects of Scope creep, before agreeing to any change in requirement, an impact analysis has to be conducted and approved by critical stakeholders. The rest of the stakeholders have to be kept informed. To handle unexpected situations, a proper risk analysis has to be performed and documented. The stakeholders have to briefed on the probability of the risks materialising and the impact it can cause. Proper drafting of Project Plan and careful monitoring of execution is very important to correct any deviations. Stakeholders align their expectations with the project plan. They have to be notified frequently.
