To face such challenges in compatability I would like to use open standards e.g. Open Geospatial Consortium OGC's standards. Additionally, using a harmonizing tool such as FME might be helpful in similar issues.

1. First of all we need to carefully identify the bug. 2. If it's really required for a third party plugin we should do a test run with another OS. 3. If we don't have the IT knowledge we should take the help of a developer friend. Finally we can implement the plugin.

Any software update/install and cross platform compatibility needs thorough research and strategising the implementation. 1. Generally there are compatibility matrix on product page.Make sure your SW versions are compatible with each other.Read existing bug reports. 2. First implement in a test environment to check if everything is working as expected before pushing to Prod. Recently I dealt with an issue where we did everything as per recommendations on 2 prominent product compatibility matrices, but things were not working as expected.After exchanging multiple emails with both vendors we were told to go with a diff licensing(as opposed to their recommendations).It was a one off case,but sometimes you have to just work through a curveball.
