Data quality problems can undermine your technical analysis, but you can tackle them effectively with a few key strategies:
What are your go-to methods for maintaining high data quality?

To maintain high data quality in technical analysis, I prioritize: 1. Automated Data Validation: Set up rules to catch anomalies before analysis. 2. Source Reliability: Use reputable data providers and regularly audit their outputs. 3. Continuous Monitoring: Implement real-time checks to identify discrepancies swiftly. 4. Data Cleaning Protocols: Employ advanced tools for efficient error detection and correction. These strategies ensure accuracy, enhancing the reliability of insights derived from technical analysis.

1. Standardize data collection processes: Develop clear guidelines and enforce strict protocols for data entry and collection. This minimizes errors and ensures uniformity across datasets. 2. Automate error detection: Use advanced tools or scripts to identify anomalies or outliers in real-time. Automation not only saves time but also increases accuracy by eliminating manual oversight. 3. Conduct regular data audits: Schedule periodic reviews to evaluate data integrity and correct discrepancies early. This helps maintain trust in your analysis and reduces the risk of compounding errors.

In this case, we have to go back to our starting point and trace the Data Sources from where it is coming. We also have to assess if the data has been altered or corrupted during collection or processing. To set clear criteria for data accuracy and completeness, To use statistical methods or software to identify.

Here would be some of my go-to methods in maintaining high data quality: Implement data validation rules to ensure data meets specific criteria. Regularly audit data sources to detect errors and inconsistencies. Invest in robust data cleaning tools to automate error detection and correction. Establish data governance policies to ensure data is properly managed and secured. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and refining data quality processes. Additionally, provide training and awareness programs to educate data stakeholders about data quality best practices. By implementing these strategies, organizations can ensure high-quality data that drives reliable technical analysis and informed decision-making.

In my experience, the quality and reliability of the data begins with a proper planning, and understanding of the questions to be answered, to avoid collecting unnecessary information. The planning should include a clear division of labor between analytics team, to avoid confirm of interest, for example an expert should work or review sampling, random spot checks on data records, and defining the relevant indicator to establish clear quality control measures. In addition, to dedicate enough amount of time on programming the data collection tool, to enhance controls, restrictions and calculations that can help to reduce human error. Very essential, to have a step-by-step protocol for data cleaning including script should be in place.

Navigating data quality issues is like keeping a kitchen organized—start with clear rules and regular upkeep. First, standardize your data collection process. Just like you'd label ingredients clearly, use consistent formats (dates, units) to avoid confusion later. Next, automate error checks using tools like Python scripts to catch anomalies early. Think of it as a recipe pre-check. Finally, schedule regular audits—like a weekly fridge cleanout—to spot and fix issues before they spoil your analysis. Small habits like these make data analysis smoother and insights more reliable.

Twenty years of experience in trading is no use if you remain bullish when the market is indicating bearish trend. In the first week of December 2024 we booked a profit of Rs.60, 000.00 using Rs.2 L only. My stock market astrology indicated BNF will make a low on 13 December and it made a low of 52405. But we purchased one lot at 52875 expecting BNF to go up more than 1500 points from that low levels. But it failed to go up above 53700 levels indicating high levels of BNF is reached at 53700 levels so it can move down only. There is end of our bullishness. So we purchased one more lot at 52400 levels. But BNF went to a low of 52125 levels so the support line of 52400 was also broken yesterday indicating .. See my post of today.

Source Reliable Data Evaluate Data Providers: Ensure the data is coming from a reputable and consistent source. Well-known providers such as Bloomberg, Reuters, or Yahoo Finance have a higher degree of accuracy and reliability. Cross-Verify Sources: Compare data from different sources to ensure consistency. If there’s a discrepancy, investigate the cause. Handle Missing Data: Imputation: If a small number of data points are missing, you can impute values using interpolation (e.g., linear interpolation). Remove or Replace: For large gaps, consider removing the incomplete time period or replacing it with a value that makes sense (e.g., using the previous day's closing price). Fix Outliers and Anomalies:
