Why must competition be a threat during a networking event? I consider the competitor an industry ally. Shake hands, smile, enjoy some bonhomie and walk the room if you can. If you aren't feeling comfortable, then just walk in the opposite direction.

Um evento de network é para agregar valores, qualquer forma errada de se agir principalmente com empresas rivais pode levar tudo a perder. Em qualquer situação sempre deve analisar as situações para tirar um aprendizado e experiências. Afinal tensões temos em qualquer lugar, porém só vencemos elas se agirmos da forma correta.

I get the point that we are competitors but this is the moment to forget that and make a truce for this networking event and talk about some relevant aspects of the market in general, other competitors, political and economic situation that affect both, without enter in strategic details about our brands. I mean search and find macro synergies.

Eventos de network e pra agregar valores , mesmo que tenha concorrentes no evento acredito que se possa tirar que ela tem de melhor e até aplicar em nosso dia dia . Não vejo concorrência como inimigo ou rival mas sim como motivação onde eu possa crescer ainda mais pessoal e profissional.

Be Thoroughly sincere and open while networking. You shouldn't bother about the competition. Thats natural and is a very common phenomenon. Your character and dexterity will count at the end of day. Fly so high that competitors cannot touch you and you are in a different league. That should be the resolve.
