I have found it does make progress more tangible, but it also creates an environment focused on checklists and tactical achievements. For some orgs, this may be the desired result. For orgs striving to develop an appreciation for longer term thinking and results, I’ve found it helpful to focus celebrations and rewards on new discoveries, successful projects, favorable metric changes and goal progress. I’ve also found it helpful to rotate employees across activities supporting the plan.

Your company culture should include a fair amount of recognition along the journey. This helps motivate employees as they progress. I remember as a kid, playing ps3 I would get a notification that says “Achievement unlocked” and would be excited! Apply the same method for employees. - Constant feedback of the journey. What I’ve seen is the lack of consistency to a vision because it gets communicated once at a company meeting and we forget about the vision and focus on the smaller tasks.
