SCM role is always most dynamic role in value chain due to dependency on various external factors-customer demand, vendor, transporter, custom etc. So a high level of planning and time management are must for SCM manager. I strongly recommend to SCM manager to apply 70/20/10 rule in time and task management. 1. 70% of time should be utilised for advance planning & communication in scm network. It includes demand analysis, review w.r.t coverage & proactive actions to meet future demand. 2. 20% of time should be utilise for current demand/issues.Here, action should protect immediate requirement/production through some quick measures. 3. Balance 10% should be used for self awareness on scm network updates, news on turbulence/gaps & KPI status

To effectively prioritize tasks in high-pressure supply chain logistics, focus on urgency and importance to tackle critical issues first. Leverage real-time data and predictive analytics to identify bottlenecks early and apply the Critical Path Method to ensure resources are allocated efficiently. A tiered task management system helps distinguish critical, strategic, and routine tasks, while empowering agile teams allows for flexibility and quick responses to disruptions. This approach ensures smoother operations and better results under pressure.

I have my own matrices to prioritize which have been developed from scientific journals and my own expletives Activity / Project Prioritazation Metrices 1. Arrival 2. Deadlines 3. Impact of the activity /project on company / community 4. Risk on company / customers / community 5. Resource availability to accomplish it 6. Relationship Management 7. Delivery 8. Cost of activity / project 9. Quality of work / product 10. Profit Steps to follow 1.Evaluate each activity w.r.t the 10 matrices by giving a score ( 1 to 10) and multiply row wise! 2. Plot a Pareto chart 3. Select the activity based ofn their ranking I.e the activity which comes first on the Pareto diagram should be done first, and so on.

Prioritization is an important and skillful act, not only in SCM but in all areas to succeed. Basic tools are 1. VSM - Understand the Value stream 2. CPM & PERT - Critical Path to understand optimum way 3. TOM - Theory of constraints to understand real bottlenecks and de bottleneck afterwards 4. Time Management Matrix - Understand criticality in view of urgent vs important

In high-pressure supply chain environments, staying focused is essential. I rely on 1. Eisenhower Matrix to focus on what’s urgent and critical 2. Theory of Constraints to pinpoint and fix bottlenecks 3. Critical Path Method to ensure resources are allocated efficiently

Use historical data, market trends, and AI-driven predictive analytics to anticipate demand spikes. Maintain safety stock levels to cushion against unexpected disruptions. Develop alternative sourcing, routing, and fulfillment strategies for emergencies. Implement IoT and GPS-enabled tracking systems to monitor shipments and identify bottlenecks. Use automated warehouse management systems and robotic process automation to enhance efficiency. Employ dashboards to monitor KPIs and make data-driven decisions quickly. Establish clear communication channels across stakeholders, including suppliers, transporters, and customers. Build strong relationships with multiple vendors to ensure supply continuity. Negotiate flexible contracts

In the high-pressure world of supply chain logistics, prioritizing tasks effectively is key. Along with assessing urgency, leveraging technology, and empowering teams, try these strategies: Identify Bottlenecks: Use the Theory of Constraints to focus on the biggest operational hurdle. Structured Decision-Making: Adopt the Analytical Hierarchy Process to systematically evaluate and prioritize tasks. Optimize Inventory: Maintain balanced stock levels to reduce costs and ensure a smooth flow of goods. Supplier Collaboration: Build strong supplier relationships to mitigate risks and enhance reliability.

In high-pressure supply chain logistics, effective task prioritization is crucial. I focus on three key strategies: 1- Critical Path Analysis: Identify tasks directly impacting delivery timelines and customer satisfaction. 2- Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage real-time data to assess priorities and adjust based on shifting demands. 3- Clear Communication: Ensure teams are aligned and informed on priority tasks to prevent bottlenecks. By maintaining flexibility, optimizing resources, and focusing on high-impact tasks, I ensure smooth operations even under pressure. Effective prioritization drives efficiency and strengthens overall supply chain performance.

To prioritize tasks effectively in high-pressure supply chain logistics: Assess Urgency and Impact: Address critical issues that impact operations first, such as disruptions or stockouts. Categorize Tasks: Use a priority matrix (urgent vs. important) to organize tasks. Leverage Technology: Use D365 tools to identify bottlenecks and automate routine tasks. Communicate: Ensure clear coordination with stakeholders for aligned priorities. Adapt: Stay flexible and re-evaluate priorities as situations evolve.
