First, always conduct one-on-one performance reviews in a private and secure setting where conversations can’t be overheard. Second, Be prepared to share the numbers achieved and the numbers expected . Third , When giving sensitive feedback, focus on the employee’s performance and behaviors, not on any specific situation or personal information. Fourth- If you gather information from other employees, make sure they’re trustworthy and providing accurate inputs.

The consequences of any breach of this rule shall also be explained in details so that all involved respect and adhere to the confidentiality. Reviewers & reviewees all have to comply with set principles.

All documents if generated, its disposal will require secrecy. Many a time people keep shaders to cut the document which can't be retrieved.

As most of the Peers have described: -The performance assessments has to be conducted in closed doors with maintaining the confidentiality. -Numbers has to be discussed with open mind, targeted vs achieved and even the qualitative inputs has to be addressed. -All the materials have to be kept confidential and to be shared with relevant stakeholders only.

I call them and perform each one remotely. If in the office, ensure sound and site (sight through glass) is protective. Use computer applications designed for this purpose to ensure you have a 1-1 connection on interviews and no one's listening in, and also applications that are used to assign/record performance.
