For building partnerships for long-term success, I think you have to keep it simple and straight. In 2019, India was trying to develop its first ever National Infrastructure Pipeline (long-term infrastructure plan). As Member Secretary of the Task Force assigned this task, I had the responsibility of explaining to the 28 federal infrastructure ministries, the 36 State Governments and Union Territories, and the many companies in the private sector about the concept, why it was important, and the reason for their response to be realistic. At the end of this whole-of-the-government exercise, we were able to develop an infrastructure pipeline that was announced by the government in 2020 (though ambitious in hindsight).

Do what you promised to do, and have others do the same. Do not do what you would not want others to do. Share your failures, be humble about your successes.

Be open in communicating. It is very important that you communicate the bad with the good. When giving a commitment, communicate it clearly and try to deliver what was promised. If a problem rears its head during execution of the task, it is better to be truthful about it and share the risks and issue that caused the problem. This in the long term builds trust.

The key word of the answer is communication. It's the sharing of task, of milestones to know what others are doing. This doesn't mean a lack of trust between members, as it's to stay on the ride. Being able ton explain wisely with simple words is really important in these moments. The unforgettable line is "if your saying your doing it, then do it" and if you make error, share, so everyone can give feedback or just learn from it. Reputation can be rebuild, a broken partnership can't.
