I think it’s important to approach resistance with understanding. While I don’t often advocate for clients directly, if I needed to, I would focus on understanding concerns, aligning the client’s needs with organizational goals, and building support from key stakeholders. I’d present clear evidence to make a strong case and stay flexible, adapting to feedback while remaining committed to the client’s interests.

I would prioritize open communication, understand the source of resistance, would address concerns directly and empathetically, build a coalition of support, present a compelling case with data and evidence, and actively listen to feedback while remaining adaptable to potential concerns; essentially, I’d focus on building consensus by clearly explaining the benefits of my advocacy while acknowledging and addressing any potential objections.

One thing I’ve found helpful is to focus on your common goal. Patient or client focus is a good start. Be prepared to tell a compelling story. Use data to back up your points and don’t forget to listen carefully for commonality.

The first step is realizing and embracing that resistance is inevitable. Secondly, try to understand why the people are resisting. Thereafter, help them to understand the client's point of view.

The way I would deal with resistance is allowing the client to make his/ her choices about how they want to proceed. Present options and outcomes and allow them to decide. If they are still resistant, it’s ok clients have a right to decide when they are ready to receive what ever I am offering.

Understanding the resistence, that is first step. If this resistence against any value carried by organization, than it should be eliminited. But, if the resistence still inline with values carried by organization, then you must bring these resistence into high consideration. Maybe something went wrong with the organization. Resistence is a sign to measure and know the condition of organization. It shows many aspects that might not seen in the surface. So, basically it's a good thing.
