For some its community, belonging, and connection. For others its the joy project management and seeing results. While others are focused on the mission. Plan thoughtful orientation and onboarding of volunteers. Take note of their passion points, and put them in your notes or CRM. Consider a volunteer action plan where you both outline their goals and aspirations, their "why." Then check in quarterly and return this together. In this way, we are sure their energy is valued and cherished, and they don't get lost in burnout !
