When a car goes into a skid at high speed, people can be tempted to turn with the skid instead of into it. Focusing on the recovery point means looking down the track to the place you want the car/or team to be, and steering toward that - the creative subconscious of team members can be harnessed to help find solutions toward that goal. It doesn’t really matter what got them into the skid, but it really does matter how they steer out. They can go back and look for causes once the team is back on track. Some skids can’t be avoided, but for others, the team can make changes to skills and procedures to improve and build morale.

One thing I've found helpful is that, remind them the purpose of what they are doing, what is it for and how it could change or affect the whole situation, and lastly the efforts and sacrifices they've been through which they all started.
