'Equally' might be the wrong word, 'proportionately' might be better - proportionate to their skills and position. This is what certified Carbon Literacy training delivers to workplace CPD

As much as achieving sustainability in a team requires collaboration among teammates, it may require a breakdown of a team's activities so that they pursue a specific sustainability aspect. It may also require assigning specific roles to every member of a team (as per the specific role played by members) so that everyone is motivated to achieve individual sustainability aspects tied to the entire team. Additionally, creating an open and interactive channel for every member to share his or her sustainability milestones will motivate poor performers to up-their-game by learning from those doing well. Lastly, a team leader should closely monitor the team and encourage sharing of experience in tickling challenges in pursuing sustainability.

Have a sitdown with your team and together define the strategy to be pursued to achieve any set sustainability goals. Assign specific responsibilities to each team member based on their experience and expertise and/or their interests. Regularly follow-up individually and collectively with your team members to keep abreast of and better understand challenges to the fulfillment of their responsibilities and the team's goals a.k.a the sustainability goals.

As an environmental specialist, I would ensure that every team member contributes equally to sustainability goals by: Setting Clear, Measurable Targets: Assign specific tasks aligned with individual strengths and the sustainability framework. Fostering Accountability: Establish regular progress checks and open communication to track contributions and address challenges early. Providing Necessary Resources: Ensure team members have access to the knowledge and tools required to perform effectively, including training in sustainability practices. Encouraging Collaboration: Promote teamwork through shared platforms and peer accountability to maintain transparency and alignment.

During a project on waste reduction, my team struggled with meeting sustainability targets. I realized that alignment on the vision was key. I fostered open communication, set clear individual goals, and celebrated small wins. By encouraging ownership, providing training where needed, and leading by example, we transformed our approach. The result? A motivated team where every member actively contributed, and together, we exceeded our sustainability goals. Empower your team; success follows!

Understanding your team dynamics mainly how do they all work together, and separately, how do they like to be managed (some you just give them a small hint and they run with it, other require a more structured approach, etc.) team members capabilities, what is their individual passion, then breaking down the goals into smaller bits that fit everyone's passion (as much as possible of course), after that sitting all together to re-assemble, while acknowledging each one's talents, passion and their support for the overall team.

Sustainability approach regarding environmnetal project contains many perspectives. Environmental, economic and social. Every team member has his/her own job regarding project policy. Regarding sustainability it depends on the final program of the project.everyone will be specific for its sustainability.if any block is missing then SEA/EIA will be failed. This failure is not of one team member, its a failure of whole team.lets discuss it in another perspective.projects are dependent on policy makers, plan makers and then final outlook.if one block is disagreeing then its mean policy makers are failed. Sustainability pillars are at risk till the end of final program display so no one will take risk of dissent with each other.
