Your team is resistant to CAD standards. How can you convince them of its importance?
Getting your team on board with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) standards can be challenging, but it's essential for consistency and efficiency. Here's how you can persuade them:

Talk about past projects where not having standards caused mistakes, delays, or extra work. Show how standards could have avoided these problems. Let the team help create or improve the standards. When they contribute, they’ll feel more ownership and will be more willing to follow them. Use a small project to try out the standards and show how they make work faster and smoother. A quick success can build confidence in the new approach. Teach the team how to use the standards in a way that matches their daily tasks. Show them how the standards actually make their job easier. Explain how top companies or successful teams use similar standards. It shows that adopting them helps keep your team competitive and professional.

One thing I have found helpful is to train the team to understand that a Cad drawing (or 3D MBD object) is a “lifetime legal” document in the eyes of most courts. It is imperative to be consistent in “what” you put on that document in terms of any kind verbiage. Think beyond engineering and consider how said verbiage could be interpreted.

"If they aren’t following CAD standards, they’d better keep a coffee pot ready—because rework is going to keep them up all night!"
-
Emphasizing how standards support scalability, ease handovers, and ensure compliance with industry norms can motivate the team. For example, maintaining standards can significantly simplify updates in CAD models for future iterations.

CAD is a very essential tool in the engineering field. Nowadays without CAD knowledge we can't produce and cont develop the parts . In my thought Both training and benefits of CAD Standards will be explained to the team. They need to explore more Shortcut keys. It helps save more designing time.

Maintaining standards throughout an industry or company is essential to ensure that work can be read or viewed, understood, and applied correctly by anyone for any context. What’s also important is maintaining those standards throughout periods of time, there’s nothing worse than going back into old databases to find drawings that are unreadable or non-standardised, and not being able to find the information needed.

work with them in project using cad standard and explain why is it important expose them in certain decision making let their creativity and fresher mind work in place and try to use standard maximise their strength

To convince your team of the importance of CAD standards, emphasize how they improve consistency, reduce errors, streamline collaboration, and save time in the long run. Highlight that adhering to standards ensures smoother project handoffs, better quality control, and easier maintenance, leading to greater efficiency and fewer revisions. Use real-world examples or case studies to demonstrate the tangible benefits.

To make sure the data received is correct ,no unnecessary rework. That the cad file is "workable" for cam and so forth. Keep up with technology on cad ,to stay in the market with say products that is used in manufacturing.
