One thing that I find works in such situations is that the leader should walk the talk. The team leader should demonstrate that he/she is ready to chip in equally and share the workload, thereby leading by example. It is also essential that the team leader remains calm, is understanding, is ready to offer guidance and maintains a positive work environment without coming under pressure so that team members who are already overwhelmed, do not feel further stressed. Open and free flowing conversations also help in keeping the team morale high, improve team bonding and also helps team members share workload as well as stress. Lastly, the team leader should give confidence to the team that he/she has their back whatever the outcome.

This is something every leader has to go through at some point in time in the career. Here is something I employ along with my team : 1. Urgency/Importance/Impact - Assessing the work at hand into the quadrants of Urgency and Importance. This helps to prioritize the tasks and achieve outcomes without burnout. However, just yesterday I realized a third axis on which each task needs to be reviewed i.e. "Impact". This can help do the right thing at the right time. 2. Delegating Right - Is an important tool to ensure that work is done in required time with required efforts. 3. Cross Skilling - Optimization is not always cutting down on people or resources. Repurposing them with cross skilling helps to share the workload when required.

By prioritizing tasks, encouraging collaboration, providing support, encouraging open communication and promoting balance, your team can manage their workload without feeling overwhelmed and keep moving toward their goals successfully.
