Be innovative in your planning with flexibility to Pivot. You need to have very clear project plan with deliverables, timelines and outcomes. At the same time, keep a very vigil watch to adhere to the plan. In case team is getting stretched due to client’s unreasonable high demand then you should be able to play smartly by trying to use maximum client’s resource for delivering the task within given constraints. Having a proactive, clear and concise communication is the key. Over communication is helpful in Some scenarios then no / limited communication. Create a Risk and Mitigation log and have a weekly formal review with all internal and external stakeholders to align the same.

Managing high client expectations sometime becomes very challenging. Here are couple of ways: a) Setting up the expectations right from day one. While having a kickoff call or client call, we need to set the expectations of what can be done and what we need assistance from their end. We can also divide the project into different phases which is achievable by our team. b) Communication plays a very key role in this aspect. While our client expects something great from us and if we don’t have that additional resource or skill set, we need to let them know as early as possible, so that they are well aware of the situation from day one. Giving regular updates to the client on the progress of the project will keep everyone on same page.
