A time tested strategy thats highly effective in protecting personal time is when at work both body and mind should be at work and when on personal time both body and mind should be in the personal zone. Problems start when there is an overlap in either space. Coming to work 15 mins early to de-clutter the mind before the daily grind starts, organising priorties and delegating helps in effectively handling workload. Knowing when to close the day is equally important as work expands to occupy as many hours as one is willing to put in. Also important is managing personal time well. Indulging in guilt free personal time goes a long way in unwinding & rejuventaing. Key is to give 100% to whatever is at hand, be it work or leisure.

For me I find working smart is the best way for work , I hate romanticising over working because it would definitely lead to burnout, work would be done by the end of the day don’t stress on it , you only have you , your health, friends and family. Set boundaries, priorities and deadlines.

Some of the strategies I adopt to protect my personal times are: 👉I have clear communication with my teammates as well as the stakeholders, to avoid back and forth clarifications, which saves time. 👉I also have structured my work at office as well as at home, which leaves little space for any confusion and some of the routine works are automated which also saves time. 👉I trust my teammates and delegate the work accordingly, which empowers them to take ownership of tasks where there expertise fits 👉Last but not the least - I start my day with journaling and preparing my schedule for the day by prioritising 3-5 urgent and important task for that day

The main game lies on trust building, where there is a repo within the teams that everyone has commitment to collective success. Micro management is the worst thing possible one can do.

List out your daily tasks one day before , prioritizing it according to personal and professional goals, organizing the resources for it shall help maintain the balance without getting overwhelmed . Being flexible when needed but yet setting out boundaries for routine works also goes a long way to close the day peacefully.
