To address delays from your IT outsourcing partner, start by identifying the root cause and reviewing the project timeline. Increase communication with regular check-ins and clear updates. Set realistic, short-term goals and renegotiate deadlines if necessary. Enhance oversight by assigning a dedicated project manager and tracking KPIs closely. Offer additional support or consider subcontracting tasks. Finally, develop a contingency plan and evaluate the partnership for long-term success.
-
Trust, accountability and transparency in the relationship with your Partners is the base to get a success in an IT Project. It is not easy to achieve at the same time these three goals under the pressure to end the project but it is fundamental to start from there and try every time.
-
To ensure timely delivery, the key is setting realistic timelines through mutual agreement, avoiding undue pressure on either party. Deadlines should not be imposed by the client nor overly aggressive commitments from the vendor just to secure the project. It's essential to track project progress from day one, ensuring resources remain focused on the task. Avoid allowing the vendor to delay by diverting resources or providing superficial updates. Continuous oversight helps prevent last-minute issues like unplanned leaves or other excuses. In summary, clear, mutually agreed timelines and proactive project management will help ensure your IT outsourcing partner delivers on time.

Project management and close follow-up without micro management allows for lesser delays. Delays are not a crime but understanding from them and helping the team achieve better next time builds a sense of inclusiveness
-
Proper governance to understand the risks, progress, dependencies (especially on us) and action plans the outsourcing partner has in place. Work with them to prioritise the critical path and manage/mitigate dependencies/risks caused by us. Also hold them accountable for actions and mitigation on risks areas within their and their vendors' control.
-
First, review the plans to apply lean principles and eliminate activities which are not directly impacting the main objectives. As others have said, focus on the critical path and assess that the resources needed to achieve the results are there. Strict risk management must be followed to reduce future delays / cost overruns
