Unrealistic deadlines come from an incompetent planner. Its'either me or my client. First thing to do is to find if it's me. Why am I saying its unrealistic? Simply because the task is outside the normal way of my biological clock or outside my comfort zone are no reason to term them as unrealistic? Am I someone who's well within the standards of the profession?An inward look is always helpful. It's a case of improving our own game and see if we need to up skill ourselves. No its not a situation of cutting corners and doing work that's below par.Once we have done a thorough analysis of our micro factors and if we find we are fine in terms of delivery, the time then comes to pick the phone and communicate our fear to the client.

In any service setup, it’s important to note that only two of the following three can be achieved: 1. High quality 2. Quick delivery 3. Low cost It’s crucial to determine in advance which two the client prioritizes and which one they are willing to compromise on!

The expectations should be cleared in the first meeting so that the quality of work doesn’t hamper. Also, sometimes one extra effort can bring the results sooner than expected. Keeping the reality in practical is the actual advice rather than ending up with zero results.

Make the client that hurrying up will hamper the credibility of the report which could make the whole investment null. At the same time before taking any work one should understand the timeline clearly, in certain places if deadline is not met the the bill cannot be processed

Instead, propose delivering actionable results quickly but ones with a high probability of success. Consider the US Marines' 70% rule: if a plan has a 70% chance of success, act on it. If it works, great—if not, you learn and adapt, improving your chances. It's always better to move than to sit waiting for perfection, noting the perfection is often an illusion. "Mr. Client, by moving fast and with purpose, we can achieve meaningful progress sooner rather than waiting for perfect answers. Can you accept less than perfect?"
