People are still not taking the environmental crisis seriously, since people do not see the direct impact to their personal life in a drastic manner. The change is slow and long. It affects the future generations. This is why even though the unpopular thing to do, the governments should take the initiatives by making rules. In a democracy where the self interest of getting elected comes first this is not easy. Therefore such mandates should come as a national policy agreed by all parties for common good. Then such rules can to be bent based on political party in power. People then will be forced to manufacture proper packaging and use proper packaging. Mandate, Mandate, Mandate for the benefit of future human kind.

Many others like us who work hard to save every piece of recycling material to save the environment for next generations. I wonder how much we can save while out there politician, leaders and mega companies who destroying the environment in big scale, throwing in tons chemical/white phosphorus material, bumps and …., then they still talking about environment, is not a joke?

El etiquetado es la carta de intencionalidad del productor; poco tiene que ver con la sostenibilidad del envase y de sus procesos (fabricación, transporte, consumo, residuo); las certificaciones que se muestran en muchos casos son greenwashing; la moda de los sellos de sostenibilidad tampoco mejora el escenario, ya que debieran estar mejor regulados para evitar engañar al consumidor.

La mayor parte de las afirmaciones sobre sostenibilidad son autodeclaraciones del propio envasador o distribuidor del producto envasado. Muchas de ellas no tienen relevancia en tanto que no aportan información relevante sobre el desempeño ambiental. Es común encontrar declaraciones como "reciclable" que no implican que efectivamente el residuo se pueda reciclar, por ejemplo porque se genera en un contexto en el que no existen sistemas de recogida separada o una industria adecuada para conseguir el reciclaje real y efectivo del material del envase. También existen etiquetas reguladas por normativa de rango legal. En Europa destaca Etiqueta Ecológica Europea, un estándar que sí ofrece garantías de rigor y transparencia en la información.

If it is sustainable, there has to be something mthing that provides the proof that it is. Greenwashing is so common and there's need to verify what makes up a product. A third party certification or badge helps to show authenticity and credibility about the sustainability claim.

La elección de reutilizables es compleja debido a su reducido numero frente a la inmensa mayoría de un solo uso; uno de los elementos centrales del nuevo Reglamento de envases y residuos de envases (PPWR) es precisamente el fomento de los reutilizables, pues su impacto ambiental en las etapas de generación y posterior gestión de residuos son muy inferiores comparadas con las de un solo uso, en las mismas condiciones.

De acuerdo con la mey Española de residuos 7/2022, aspiracionalmente TODOS los envases deben ser reciclables; sin embargo la realidad es otra bien diferente; el proceso del reciclaje no puede ser entendido como independiente, sino como un eslabón mas de la cadena de la gestión del residuo, junto a otras como el ecodiseño o la justa contribución financiera a través de la responsabilidad ampliada del productor (RAP) del que pone un envase en el mercado y que se convertirá en un residuo que se habra que gestionar.
