When facing resistance while advocating for a patient or patient population it's best a find some level of calm before making your presentation with as much verifiable evidence as possible which can take a variety of forms. Being well prepared is a great way to avoid a lot of emotional response mishaps. Be self-aware of your body at all times while checking in with your emotions, remembering their tendency to not be the most accurate meter for acting on them while holding their attention. Speak calm, clear and confident showing intelligence, faith in what you say and do and hold onto emotional regulation as it is a very positive tool for persuading people in the needed direction.
