This should include clicking on a product from the search results or the product listing page and verifying that the product details page is displayed correctly. Additionally, you should select the desired quantity, variation, or option of the product and click on the add to cart button to verify that it is added correctly. Finally, you should modify the quantity or remove any item from the cart and verify that the cart is updated accordingly.

Another important consideration in E2E testing of product selection and cart is that user should be able to add products to the cart from PLPs. So you need to ensure that add to cart button works properly on PLPs and send the right quantities to the cart. The cart should also show a clear bifurcation of actual and discounted prices for each product. The cart should allow you to navigate to the chosen products.

4 Checkout and payment

An essential end-to-end testing scenario for an e-commerce platform is to ensure that users can complete the checkout and payment process securely and without any issues. This should include verifying that users can click on the proceed to checkout button from the cart page and the checkout page is displayed correctly. The user should then enter or select their shipping address, delivery method, and billing address before selecting a payment method such as credit card, PayPal, or cash on delivery. Lastly, confirm the payment details and click on the pay now button. It’s also important to check that the payment is processed successfully and order confirmation page is displayed with the order number, summary, and tracking information. Additionally, verify that the user receives an order confirmation email with the same details.

I would also suggest keeping in mind how to test this: Test the integration between the e-commerce platform and payment gateways (e.g., credit card processors, PayPal) to ensure seamless communication and data transfer. Verify that order details are accurately transmitted to the payment gateway and that payment statuses are updated accordingly. Test for scenarios involving partial payments, refunds, and cancellations, ensuring that they are processed correctly and reflected accurately on both the e-commerce platform and the payment gateway.

When performing an E2E testing scenario for an e-commerce platform, it is important to confirm that users can provide feedback and review the products and services they purchased. This should involve navigating to the user profile or dashboard, selecting an order or product that has been delivered or received, and clicking on the write a review button. After rating the product and service on a scale of 1 to 5 stars and writing a brief comment or feedback, the review should be submitted and verified as posted on the product details page and user profile page. Additionally, the user should receive a thank you email or notification for their review.
