Definitely, Alternative fuels is going to be a game change (Battery, Hydrogen, Biomass) but none of these can rule the future. They are going to co-exist with traditional IC Engines. Thus, we also need to figure out how to decarbonize conventional internal combustion engines. Two potential fixes are the ethanol blending and the ammonia engine.

Tough question!! It is certainly in the top list in every agenda of OEMs, environmental organization, government and many others! This discussion will evolve every year! In my personal opinion, the single solution unfortunately has low chance to exist! There are too many fronts in this game to resolve. I truly believe it will be always a blend of solutions among pure Internal Combustion , Battery Electric, Hybrids, Hydrogen and new synthetic fuels being developed! Customers seeking for efficiency, green flag vs ability to change fast, available infrastructure, anxiety on fuel range, political matters and environmental importance! Way too many forces to have a single solution!

That is obvious while we are converting one to another there will be emmisions. More important thing is how we can keep it as low as possible. There is no just magical one rule to do it however we can optimise it by using multiple options to optimise emission levels, such; as solar supported EVs with light weight structures. Or a public transportation system which intagrated smart grids in not only for humas as well for the goods. The key is melting more engineering solution in a same pot and integrate it to the real life.

There is no single best solution available. There will be multiple solutions that coexist depending on each use case. Electric vehicle areas (The county must have the option for green electricity) 1) Pessanger cars or light duty vehicles: Battery electric vehicles and Hybrid vehicles. 2) Heavy duty: Fuel Cells Conventional ICE business: OEMs don't want to scrap their current investment 1) Improvement in exhaust gas treatment 2) Improve fuel consumption which will automatically reduce tailpipe emissions (e.g. with better aerodynamics or reduce energy loss, utilize heat energy, improve fuel efficiency, etc..) 3) Alternate fuel ICE like CNG 4) Methanol blend with fuels 5) H2-based ICE (Use H2 instead of diesel or gasoline)
