The key distinction between hyperparameters and parameters can be seen in any natural learning environment. Say you are training for a certain sport. The parameters would be your physical and mental conditioning and hyperparameters would be the environment in which you practice and the trainers you practice with. Parameters are the things that get trained through a process, but hyperparameters can be changed and tuned with accordance to how well you are learning.

Hyperparameters control how you train your model. Like number of neighbors (for KNN), batch size, number of epochs, optimizer etc. There is no shortcut to determine hyperparameters. For example, in sklearn there is GridSearchCV, so you can fine tune your parameters. Sometimes you can also use a for loop and plot a graph and observe the best parameter. The robot has some built-in abilities like kicking power and speed (parameters). But, to make it the best soccer player, we tweak settings like how fast it learns or how careful it is (hyperparameters). There is some similarity between cooking and data science. When you are cooking food you are controlling temperature and cooking time using gas stove knobs. We starts with raw material and ends up with delicious dish. In data science cooking process, we are also have knobs which are hyper-parameter. The learning rate, number of hidden units, height of decision tree are example of hyper-parameter. As knobs controls temperature and cooking time. Similarly hyper-parameter controls model weights, biases. During cooking, we may regulate knobs, but during machine learning we keep hyper-parameter fixed. When we rotate Kaleidoscope, all we see is different curves. Similarly, when we tune in hyperparameter knob, we see different learning curve. It is not as colourful as Kaleidoscope's curve. But, in hyperparameter tuning, high order curve looks more red and optimal curves looks green. We can move Kaleidoscope between two data points, similarly we can try all hyper-parameter points in grid search. Sometime our Kaleidoscope movements are random and we see different curve. Similarly, when select different hyperparameter randomly, it is known as random search. Sometime we select hypermeter on the basis of previous selection. We record all the movements and select best hyper-parameters. Randomized and Bayesian search are generally faster.

As for many different optimization problems, the potential search space can be prohibitively huge. It can also suffer from many other ailments as slow convergence, overshoot, getting stuck in local minima, and the list goes on. On top of that, to test every configuration of hyperparameters you would essentially train an entirely new model from scratch, which would consume a lot of resources. My point is that I would strongly discourage the use of automated hyperparameter selection as a sort of brute-force approach to ML design. These methods work best as a fine-tuning tool for expert design.
