When there's a conflict with team opinions, it's likely the test participant reflects a different/unique user profile from the team, there’s little value in debating one perspective (the team's) against another (the users'). Instead, the focus expanding the team's perspectives and staying objective. For instance, if the majority of our user base aligns with the test participants, we should give more weight to their feedback, as the team may represent a different type of user, therefore they couldn't immediately resonate or empathize with the conflicting results.

This keeps the discussion grounded in real user input as opposed to theoretical talks. Organise an Open Discussion: Call a meeting to go over the results with the team and promote candid conversation.

In healthcare design, I've found that conflicting usability results often reveal deeper insights about different user contexts and needs. Rather than seeing this as a problem to solve, treat it as an opportunity to understand complexity. Key approaches: • Bring users and team members together to explore discrepancies - often the discussion itself reveals valuable insights • Map out different use scenarios to understand where and why experiences diverge • Look for patterns in the conflicts - they often highlight important design considerations we might have missed The goal isn't to prove one perspective right, but to understand why different experiences exist and design solutions that work across contexts.

Steve job once mentioned a very important thing. Whenever you are making products for the masses one has to keep three things in mind irrespective of how many internal disputes you have in the management team. 1) User Experience 2) Prioritising simplicity 3) Trusting intuitions and vision. While maintaining the above principles the product team has to focus on multiple iterations of testing, this would definitely help identify which feedback is actionable.
