The biggest issue in our world with an under performing member, is it tends to throttle back the entire team. First you need to have a private conversation with the non productive team member to try and figure out what the issue is. If it's home life maybe some time off is needed. It could be a coworker but all cards need to be on the table and the the team member needs to know the severity of the situation. I personally feel setting up a weekly performance evaluation when it comes to this is helpful. Nobody likes to be micro managed but one bad piece of fruit will spoil the entire salad. Termination would my next course of action if not resolved.

It’s always a team effort—no exclusions, only unity. Just do it and see the magic.

A good leader is one who explores, motivates and extracts the best from all the team members. If any one has a issue he/she needs to be spoken to very clearly and inform the effects it is having on team performance. Training / support needs to be given to upgrade with certain time frames before taking action on replacement / transfers
