In my experience, I always speak with each team member individually and then collectively for the organization's goal planning component. I take that approach to set a tone, accountability and transparency. My approach also enables each team member to know their roles and how "respect" is the primary rule. Anyone that violates the former will be addressed accordingly given we must keep our eyes on the prize and not get consumed by unnecessary rhetoric but instead focus on collaboration.

Build your team by having a positive brainstorming session to discuss how the team can become stronger. Here are the rules: 1. Every idea, no matter how wild or impractical it may seem, is welcome. 2. Do not critique, evaluate, or debate ideas while generating them. Judgment kills creativity. Save analysis and refinement for later. 3. The goal is to generate as many ideas as possible. 4. Wild and Crazy is Good. Encourage participants to think outside the box. 5. Use a whiteboard to record ideas and keep the momentum going. 6. Stay focused on the topic at hand. Keep the session on track to avoid going off on unrelated tangents. Set clear objectives before starting. 7. Have fun. Encourage laughter. Include the introverts. Break the ice.
