Use 80:20 rule. When You reach 80% of what YOU define as total scope of work, wrap it up, and deliver it! You will save a lot of time and money and nerves. Remember, PERFECTION is the killer of progress! (Not applicable on all industries 😎)

My experience has been that for team and management on ground, visibility comes much in advance. Problem comes to such a situation, apart from scope and estimate issues, when the status gets sugar coated, stakeholders believe they have more wisdom than the collective wisdom of the team, sales is busy over commtting to manage relationship and couple of more things. Strategies typically hover around 1. more efforts without doubt, if it would help, 2. staggering of releases with quick go live plans, 3. keeping the status close to reality, 4. ensuring team stays together to avoid unproductive narrative settings, 5. much closer working with customer, 6. tweaking ways and means to achieve goals as feasible, 7. And continued trust in the team

Tight deadlines can definitely be challenging, but they often bring out the best in terms of focus and efficiency. When faced with these situations, I prioritize tasks based on impact, streamline workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, and communicate clearly with stakeholders to manage expectations. If needed, I’m always open to collaborating with team members to get things done faster. My goal is to deliver high-quality results on time, and my experience has taught me how to stay composed and proactive under pressure.

When there is a fixed and tight deadline, I always position the plan with team and stakeholders with following strategies: - break-down scope into smaller pieces and plan 3-4 demos during the project so everyone is on same page. - discuss priorities and must-haves early on with stakeholder and prioritized the scope. Get buy-in with the stakeholders and team. - communicate regularly (daily, every 2 days) with the team and keep the team focused on priority items - drop low-priority tasks to a follow-up release where possible. - focus on quality and testing early on and maintain high standards - keep room for last-minutes issues, scope and target to wrap-up 1-week earlier. -

This is why you have a clear understanding of the scope and to deflect scope creep that will derail your project. If the scope is explicitly defined AND there is an acceptance of what the deliverables are at certain point in time (the deadline), anything after the fact is irrelevant.

I love the sound a deadline makes when it passes by. But seriously. Why is there a deadline? Who gave you that deadline? Did you accept the constraints? What does that signify? In Agile sprints or whatever you have, a certain go live date where you work towards is needed because of all the cross team, cross organisation stuff that needs to happen. But that is reason you do the work. So again what is it that you are delivering and why are you stressing out?
