- Always state what languages will be spoken/heard at the conference, so that people can prepare in advance by brushing up their language skills, if they want to. - Always ask speakers to send handouts in advance. - Encourage the use of visual aids of all kinds during presentations to help people understand. - Ask native speakers of English to avoid phrasal verbs and regional terms. Have them opt for words of Latin/Greek origin and for more international terms. - If the conference is funded in some form, don't waste your money in useless stuff. Prioritise hiring professional interpreters instead, and plan ahead with them when, what, and how to interpret. - Send your speakers the link to videos with speakers' training to boost their skills.

When attending online events without translation services, AI tools can help translate conversations and support engagement. While not perfect, they assist in understanding content and participating in discussions. Zoom offers live translation if enabled, and Microsoft Translator provides real-time spoken translation. Other services offer similar features. For text, the Google Translate Chrome Extension instantly translates web pages for better comprehension. When chatting, tools like Google Translate can help you craft responses. AI services like ChatGPT and DeepL also offer excellent translation, with DeepL known for its high-quality accuracy. Event organizers should provide support for international audiences if possible.

Usually, when attending a global platform, we do assume that the basic language of communication will be 'English'. However, we can never be certain if every individual would be capable to communicate in the language preferred. With our intention to gain knowledge & to network with peers, being prepared for everything helps. Consider the following when attending such global events with multilingual audience base: 1. Download Language Translation apps on your mobile (Many are available for free) 2. Invest in language translation tools, hardware which allow real-time translation for all major languages 3. Most difficult option, learn the language for which you know would be required if your client base thrives in that region. Hope this helps

First, your slides are your secret weapon. Keep them clear, concise, and in the languages you've identified your audience might speak. Simple, bold messages go a long way in making sure no one’s left scratching their head. Next, live transcription tools are your backup plan when things go awry, because, let’s face it, they will. And here’s a bonus tip: sprinkle in a few words in your audience’s native languages. Even a simple "gracias," "merci," or "danke" can make a world of difference and create a real connection. They’ll appreciate the effort, even if you don’t nail the accent (don’t worry, no one’s expecting perfection). Just keep it genuine, keep it light, and you’ll be a multilingual maestro in no time!
