Here are what I normally do in this situation: 1. Inform the stakeholder what is Regression test for, why we need to test thoroughly. Inform what had happened in the past when we didn’t test thoroughly. 2. Assess what are the importance features/critical areas to test as high priority for QA. So it can be test early, once the critical area failed. We can report it as soon as possible, send it to the fixing doctor. 3. Incorporate automation test to reduce the testing time. 4. Perform exploratory test around the feature/changes to catch some edge cases.
