Project timelines change all the time in market research. This is very common. My advice - always start a project anticipating the timeline changing at some point during the assignment. Be upfront with you client(s) from day 1 - explain how a shift in client direction can impact a timeline and be specific - is it hours, days, longer?
-
One thing I've found useful when faced with similar challenges is clear and proactive communication. When unexpected timeline shifts occur, immediately inform the client about the delay, explain the reasons concisely, and express empathy. Offer alternative solutions or adjusted deliverables to demonstrate commitment. Maintain transparency by keeping the client updated on the revised timeline and prioritize quality to minimize the impact of the delay.
-
When something like this happens: 1. Talk to the teams and understand the delay impact. 2. Try to thinks of ways to reduce the timeline change it’s impact on end result. 3. Inform client about the change and the reason for the same to build trust and set correct expectations. 4. Stay on top of the project to make sure everything goes smoothly without any additional issues.
