🛑 “A leader without boundaries isn’t leading—they’re surviving.” ✨ Here’s how to protect personal time without guilt: 1️⃣ Set the tone. Communicate: “After [X time], I’m offline—here’s who to contact instead.” This models balance for your team. 2️⃣ Calendar = commitment. Schedule personal time just like a meeting—because it’s just as important. 3️⃣ Trust your team. Delegation isn’t weakness; it’s leadership. Empower them to shine. Healthy boundaries create sustainable leaders. How do YOU balance work and personal life? Let’s discuss! 👇

My favorite way to protect my personal time is to schedule it on my calendar. Many people have a work calendar and a home calendar; I only have 1 calendar. This makes life simple and people can see where I set my boundaries.

Work Life balance for an executive level leader is not a balance or equality of hours for work and life. Scheduling personal time is important but expectations at this level require 24/7 availability and performance even when on vacation. The realistic approach to ensure leisure, relaxation and fun time with family and friends is to utilize your time doing memorable, quality activities, not wasting time laying around. Use what time you have out of the office for life experiences.

One approach I find helpful is to align expectations at the beginning of each month. Instead of simply delegating tasks, I delegate projects and support my team in developing the right skill set. I typically set aside one hour each day for each team member, or if my schedule is tight, I allocate one hour every two days to address their questions. This practice helps me establish boundaries while empowering them to think independently. I use that one hour for meaningful discussions.

Discuss the importance of personal time for their well-being and productivity, helping them recognize that setting boundaries is essential for long-term success. Guide them in clearly communicating these boundaries to their team and peers, ensuring they establish expectations about availability and response times. Suggest practical strategies, such as scheduling "no-interruption" blocks for focused work or setting specific hours for meetings. Help them prioritize tasks and delegate effectively to free up personal time. Finally, support them in sticking to their boundaries, gently reminding them of the importance of self-care and offering encouragement when they face challenges in maintaining those boundaries.
