How do you troubleshoot common fan problems and errors?

Figuring the proper settings for the machine can involve hours and even days of research. Not just the manufacturer, but users and expert opinions are needed. There are softwares, often free, that will automatically adjust fan speeds to reduce heat. Researching those can save a ton of time, but an overheating fan usually needs to be replaced.

The input fan filter can be as simple as thin wire mesh. Do not force air to spin the blades no matter how much you enjoy the sound, as the motors can generate harmful charges. It is always important to clean the metal fins and heat pipes for the processor and the video card if possible. If you must use a liquid cleaner make sure it is a minimal purity of 93% and apply lightly without pouring or soaking while avoiding any circuitry batteries or Capacitors and any plastics or adhesives/rubber should be cautiously observed. Bendee straw, easy steady out, don't breath in dust. Bigger fans are not always better... Some manufacturers also include software that controls your fan speed and temperatures, and they may already be installed on your system. Generally these proprietary software's may override anything set in the BIOS, so if you're not seeing any change when altering settings in the BIOS, make sure you don't already have fan/temperature control software installed.

Fans and dust can cause static. Some fans have delayed starts. Cable ties.... Open case is counteractive to the purpose of fans which displace heat by passing air; do not create dead heat zones.

If the room temperature is too warm or hot, fans running optimally, cleaning all the dust matters none, you have to cool the room first. If have to introduce an air conditioner to the room, do not put it on the same circuit as the computer, the power surges can & will fry out pc components.
