For a prototype you ONLY will do reductive production (machining) but more preferably. In no circumstance should you make die or mold driven fabrication process without first prototyping in a way that goes not require such shape-forming impliments.

The lost time that is associated with sending out parts for fabrication in an iterative design process is actually going to be more costly than whatever savings may have been realized through not buying the 3d printer and in-housing the capability instead. In that case you should just buy the absolute easiest to use 3d printers out there, and there are several excellent plug-and-play options available.

Always keep your filament in a dark and actively dehumidified enclosure. The mild degradation that can occur with filament like PLA when it is left out in the sun in a humid environment will cause a negative change in its physical properties. This would not be as much a problem if the degree to which this degradation occured was consistent or predicatable. It is VERY important you keep track of the age of your resin. They do not in fact have infinite shelf life - a 2 year old filament stored on an open shelf is not going to behave the same as one that is sealed and fresh from the manufacturer.
