I little bit disagree: you need to choose the right high voltage architecture as suitable for the application. This means you pick the the right combination of battery, motor, coolers, power elect etc that is in line with the application requirements such as charging time, load carried, operation location, turn around time, cost target etc

Along with considering the fundamental principles and key elements of automotive design, such as aerodynamics and weight distribution, we must also carefully select an effective high-voltage system, starting from the motor selection, cooling system and accordingly choosing the battery characteristics.

I believe choosing the right battery is just one aspect of designing an EV with improved range and energy efficiency. It's essential to consider other factors like aerodynamics, regenerative braking, weight reduction, and optimizing the drivetrain for maximum efficiency. Electric /Gas Hybrid Cars are the Way to go. Batteries and Even Charging Stations will be Limited to Power Sources and Locations. The Metals used Lithium ION,Copper Nickle Cadium Aluminum Gold are all a Result of Mining and Extensive at that Diggin up whole Valleys in Peru, Africa and not to Mention that Russia used to Export all most 58 percent of all these Key Elements to the Western Countries These Minerals will be Hard to aquire Unless the West Starts Digging and Drilling again.

It are all open door 'solutions'. Of course the right battery is important, but that only works if the differences are clear and understandable for average consumers. That isn't at this moment. So yes, it is important, but an average consumer will not have the knowledge to take this choise in consideration.

I believe they are using the wrong type of "power storage". Traditional batteries will not be the long term solution as they are heavy, non-recyclable, and use too much REM. A gas stored in liquid form is the future "battery" as it can be produced at power plants, shipped or piped to distributors/homes, and then filled into vehicles in minutes. Similar to current infrastructure.

I disagree a bit. Why not go to hydrogen cell technology.Or look for a more clean technology which becomes more affordable as in current vehicle the major cost is of li.ion battery

Yes I too agree with the above. In commercial EV Vehicles like buses and trucks the frontal areas contribute to a drag.. So conventional front fascia and rear fascias to be modified in EV's.

Many answers/opinions involve building a new EV from scratch. However, In India (the country where I live), most automakers convert IC to EV. The advantages, 1. Upper body is already built/Fixed and can be C/O for facelifts. 2. Change of underbody and battery development only which reduces the investment. The easiest way to reduce the investment area and improve aerodynamic efficiency are: 1. Bumper closure/reduction of openings for radiator. 2. Smoothing/removing projections on side body trims. 3. Vents on the fender and splash shields. 4. Diffuser and spoiler vents for reduced drag.

The drag coefficient plays a significant role in improving the performance of electric vehicles (EVs), especially SUVs. For instance, let's consider two EV SUVs over 2 tonnes, aiming to achieve a 0-100kmph acceleration in less than 4 seconds ( Flagship E and F segment passenger vehicles) If the first SUV has a drag coefficient of 2.8-3( typical Flagship SUVs of luxury brands), it would require a higher tractive effort (torque to the wheels) to overcome the aero drag compared to the second SUV with a lower drag coefficient of 2.4 ( for example, BMWs iX).

By science reducing aerodynamic drag significantly increases BEVs range at higher speeds & reduces range anxiety which is a major discouraging factor on EV adoption. Improving powertrain efficiency was a priority in ICE road vehicles rather than improving aero performance due to low TTW-Tank To Wheel efficiency. I am still surprised why there are so many EVs that have a huge front without any aerodynamics. But again an open door to state that good aerodynamics of a vehicle improve efficiency..

We need to take advantage of the new design possibilities provided by the electrification, which was not done yet by the global carmakers. Besides the new stuff, carmakers should be more creative in developing unsprung aero and variable geometry beyond fancy rear wings on million-dollar cars: taking advantage of the air flow around the car instead of fighting it with more parts, weight and drag. With these advancements, a car could be 10 to 20% more efficient easily; with a more profound adoption, more than 50% could be achieved.

Energy recovery is the trick that will differentiate the winner in the market. Not much technologies are available to recover the entire energy (as much my limited knowledge !) - for example the motor capacity ate typically lower to generate the braking energy. We may need to innovate alternate energy solutions , can be mechanical, electrical or electronics.

I would not say to educate an EV driver. It starts with giving good information to the EV driver. And not to the first movers but for average consumers. That is where it starts and at this moment that is where it stops unfortunately.

Modular architecture for EV vehicles will be useful. It may be inefficient to just try to migrate existing diesel /petrol vehicles to EV. Modularity provides significant efficiency in terms on different variants while reducing the part count...and hence lower validation ,investments etc.

Rolling resistance is one of the main components which reduce the efficiency of cars.Tyres play a major role in determining rolling resistance .Low rolling resistance tyres are the need of the hour.Most BEVs have extremely low rolling resistance tyres which increase the range of these vehicles.Tyre air pressure plays a major role in rolling resistance.So even if you have low rolling resistance tyres,tyre pressure must be maintained to achieve the full effects of the same.

How long will the battery last? I needed to replace my battery after 8 years and 2 weeks and it costed me a fortune to replace it. Without replacement the car is worth nothing. Good open transparent information about this would be helpful, as lifetime of a battery is directly related to the efficiency of the vehicle. And create clear ways and systems to predict the lifetime of the battery.
