En mi opinión, lo primero es saber los procedimientos de lo que se está realizando, cuando se contrata al personal, el personal adquiere los conocimientos por medio de sus compañeros y al igual la experiencia que va obteniendo el mismo, pero en ocasiones pasa que se va haciendo un teléfono descompuesto, se va perdiendo la esencia de que los procedimientos son hechos para realizar las actividades de manera segura. Por lo que debemos tener en cuanta que si una empresa tiene un POE (Procedimiento de operación estándar) de una actividad, es leerlo, y si se ve un área de oportunidad en el POE, mejorarlo esto con el fin de “garantizar la seguridad de la ingeniería de minas”.

I think and belief that in spite of all the strategies that is described eg. Risk assesments, JSA, PTO,s SOP,s PPE etc that fatique is one of the major causes of accidents and fatalities in the workplace. Neglection is also problematic in many of the mining operations. Human errors eg, drug and alcohol abuse need to be monitored on a continuous basis. I have witnessed horrible fatalities in my career in the mining industry of 43 years. Safety is and must be the first subject before any employee enters the property. Safety tokens of appreciation seemed to work periodically but can fade away over a period of time. Budget compiling should include a portion adjudicated to safety appreciation and can probably be named as "other".
