I believe in 'done is better than perfect' get your ideas early on in front of the customer... Again: "If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late." So, getting something out there for people to try and give feedback on is more important than waiting until everything is perfect and high quality! Go out, experiment, make it messy, show your ideas, make sure you can and quantify the changes but start...

If you reduce the uncertainty, might you change the feature? Decide to solve a different problem?

With a good process in place, you stand a better chance of getting things right... eventually, & more often. Start with an idea, or hypothesis. Ask around to see if someone else has this problem & is looking for a solution. Find out if it's really a problem worth solving in the first place - as in, how frequent is it, how painful, how many people really have it & how if they're willing to pay! That's when you start building a first-cut. Don't wait till it's ready - push it out there are see if it's getting any validation at all. Then go back & fix what needs fixing. In a couple of iterations you'll probably get it right!
