It all begins with starting. A vision will always remain a vision if you don't act on it. when you start, you fail a lot of times and even when you become good at what you are doing, you still fail at it most times. The more you work on your art, the more you create a style for yourself. Mistakes in art differ based on the artist and when we work on the mistakes and refine them with time, our style comes out more. Keep working and keep failing because that's where the real art is.

To expand this, pushing beyond the comfort zone, means re-framing your thoughts and not just your camera. This can only occur from studying your failure and critically comparing to your successes. Find the elements that you think need corrected and go out and test by using scientific methods. Control the frame by changing one variable at a time. For instance, light, wait for the cloud to move, or change your angle wrt the sun. For some scenes the time of day is inflexible as to when the light is available, Moraine lake for instance. Plan accordingly.

Instead, the first few captures are always taken to teach me what to change about my approach. Cependant, je crois aussi qu'une fois une image réalisée et présentée, elle reflète la vision artistique du photographe. Les critiques peuvent être utiles pour améliorer la technique, mais la vision artistique est personnelle et subjective. Siempre es bueno aprender del resto, todos tenemos algo que decir y todos queremos un resultado distinto en cada trabajo para que sea único, hay que aprender de los clientes también. Seek advice, but from who? Asking other photographers for advice might seem like a great idea at first, but you might want to get feedback from people that work on other fields, architects, designers, painters, food stylers, or even your friends as they might give advise that will have you thinking outside the box, mind you there's nothing wrong about seeking advice from other photographers, specially if it's about performing techniques or gear, but don't inquire too much or you might find your artistic vision compromised.

As photographers we are used to frame things horizontally, but now a days clients expect all kind of frame sizes, get used to shoot in vertical and 1:1 so plan accordingly if the subject allows it, study your subject and area of work beforehand and see how else you can work with it, be it changing angles or experimenting with black and white in post.

I might know, that I don’t know. I might see, that I do not see. I might see, that things and subjects I see, are bound to my abilities to see. Based on experiences and interaction. At very early ages I just didn’t care and the pictures found me. More as view into tiny worlds, they just catched my senses. It was not me, taking pictures or defining a specific view on what’s going on. Photography for me was always the other way around … Later within music it was just the same. One that would say, he or she would just play an instrument, would miss a whole universe of possible spaces to relate to …..

Instead of thinking about it as a failure, why not just define it as one of the options which was no work, and continue to find another option which is suitable for the problem.

Being willing to shift our perspective is a powerful tool, especially in times of challenge. I've found that most of the time I find greater success in having an attitude of adaptability and change. What this means is that I'm able to evolve, pivot and readjust how I was looking at something to be able to create a positive outcome. Cuando dicen que del fracaso se aprende, es cierto, no son palabras de cajón. Las técnicas y habilidades se pueden perfeccionar con la repetición, si una vez lo hiciste mal a la siguiente podrás hacerlo mejor si tienes en cuenta el proceso y los puntos en los que te has equivocado. Para lo único que sirve detenerse en los errores es para corregirlos, para que sepas que si no funcionó de una forma, hay que probar de otra.

Lo bueno de la fotografía moderna es que puedes disparar tanto como puedas, eso da la oportunidad a seguir aprendiendo, a intentarlo una y otra vez hasta lograr encontrar resultados, aprovechar esto para el aprendizaje es crucial, ya que puedes saber qué hacer en el análogo también.

Para llegar a la fotografía, no la foto. Lo mejor es volver a la misma locación o estar mucho tiempo en ella. Permite mejorar aberraciones, aprender de errores, encontrar la mejor luz, perspectiva e historia para contar con una sola imagen

Sirve mucho volver al archivo, y un poco a la vieja escuela, imprimir una selección de las que se considere mejor logradas o sientas algo con ellas, colgarlas en un muro, después con dos cartones en L crear tres fotografías nuevas (registrar) de cada foto original. Analizar y tratar de recrear en terreno... Otra es ir ordenando en muro de acuerdo a lo que uno hace de manera subconsciente en terreno, ver patrones (ahí está el estilo de uno)

There are so many moments when I'll pose my clients, take one photo, look at it, and think, "Nope!" With digital photography, we have the opportunity to just keep shooting. And if you keep shooting for the next 100 years, you're still going to keep creating photos that are 'nopes' and photos that are 'YUPS!' Not only are you going to find your style, but you're going to change it 70 billion times. So never stop. Just keep exploring and having fun.

Showing up every day and simply doing our craft is the name of the game! Some days I really love what I capture, other days I find myself challenged by what I'm working on. Regardless though, I show up every time and shoot. Just like a writer writes and a painter paints, the only way we're going to get better and grow stronger is by getting out and doing our craft as often as we can in a variety of situations. This is where we get the opportunity to be challenged and stretch ourselves beyond where we are now.

Según mi experiencia de más de 40 años en fotografía industrial y publicitaria, puedes hacer 50 fotos buenas y nadie dirá nada...pero en cuanto una te salga mal te cae todo el mundo encima...lo más seguro es que si se trata de una agencia de publicidad te veten, es decirnos te volverán a dar trabajo, al menos por un largo tiempo. Si es un cliente directo podría no ser tan grave. El que trabaja en este medio y sobre todo con clientes top debe saber que esto es así...no hay lugar para los errores. Existe una excepción y es que cuando fotógrafos con mucho prestigio fallan , las propias agencias de publicidad buscan alguna explicación y a veces -muchas- convierten el error en virtud..."

En mi experiencia, siempre va a haber espacio para errores, pero es importante no caer ante eso, los años van a decir mucho de lo que cada uno aprende y todos son capaces de ver lo que podemos hacer con nuestros ojos.

You can spend all of your time planning the perfect shot, but it is the unexpected around us that can provide the most incredible pictures. Even little things we see everyday can be worth another look -creativity and inspiration are all around us and there is no absolute perfection. ENJOY EXPRESS YOURSELF AND LOOK AROUND YOU MORE OFTEN.

In my experience as a people photographer, if you don't like your photography, you are not going to like your photos. No matter how amazing their photos are. The experience is everything. The same goes for who you choose to work with as a photographer. You must choose the right people, or creating photos will become a drag quickly. So when working with people, make sure that you connect on your values. This is so important in creating art that feels good to you.
