One thing I find helpful in managing conflict in the work place, is respecting every team member and communicating clearly. In our daily interactions as Mining Engineering Professionals, it is very crucial that we avoid disrespect in any form, even in the tone of our voices when speaking to others. We must strive to remain calm in in the midst of high tensions, and learn to avoid being overly emotional.

In my role as a mining engineer, identifying underlying issues is essential for effective team management, especially in the high-pressure environment of the mining industry. Conflicts can arise from various sources, including technical disagreements, safety concerns, or project priorities. I make a concerted effort to observe team dynamics and address minor issues before they escalate. By maintaining open communication channels, I encourage team members to report problems early, enabling me to identify potential conflict triggers and take preventative action.

One thing I find useful is also not to attack the ego of persons involved but rather addressed the issue present and not be bias but rather encourage openness and team work

I agree with the view......but I will like to add cultural intelligent as part of the tool to prevent conflict. It is not enough to prevent conflict but to avoid any situation resulting to conflict. A psychological point of view of trying to see ahead what could result into chaos is a good leadership perspective. Although it would be difficult to do this if the leader does not understand his environment. Getting to know everyone on your team will help one to see through the intellectual capacity and intrinsic values. Also, creating and atmosphere where every get to understand each other will also prevent the incoming chaos. No success comes by chance, it has to be intensional.

I totaly agree that active listening is a cornerstone in conflict management. For me, listening and allowing a colleague to speak without interrupting them, having the patience to allow people to air their views, shows a lot of maturity.

Practicing habits be focus on the speaker, avoid interrupting, gently give paraphrase and summarize, and following up consistently will enhance your active listening skills, leading to improved communication and stronger relationships within your team.

It also important not to brush off the views that persons involved in a conflict share but listen attentively and not show to take sides whiles resolving a conflict.

It is absolutely priceless to grant the different persons the floor to speak without interruptions. I had observed that the issues can be resolved when they listen to what each other is saying and eventually see where the problem is. In most situations it all is just a miss understanding as no one is listening to one a mother.

Listening is good, it has power to resolve conflict and see through process of manipulation from any worker. Most people when they talk they simply play victim card. Listening to them will make you know where they are coming from and their intentions. I recommend this too....

For me holding sentiment before judgement is bias. Its simply the result of not listening. As earlier mentioned active listening is good, most especially when done without bias. Hearing the view of everyone before passing judgement is good, it makes one think and take the best chance or decision. see through other people view makes one come with the best decision. Este aspecto puede ser muy importante en equipos multidisciplinarios y con profesionales provenientes de diferentes lugares, después de todo la cultura y la interpretación de la palabras puede marcar una diferencia clave en el proceso del conflicto. El momento en que se trasmite el mensaje también será clave, pues para trasmitir el mensaje con claridad es necesario que la otra persona esté dispuesta a recibir la información que se quiere brindar.

I discovered everyone has a way of interpreting messages, most especially when you belong to different cultural background and values. Understanding the t eam you belongs and communicating in clear terms will pass a direct message that will be carried out in a direct manner for a direct result. It simply should be in a simple word and simple result.

I schedule regular check-ins to discuss any lingering issues and gather feedback on how the solution performs. This ongoing monitoring allows me to adjust as needed and reinforces my commitment to fostering a positive work environment. Consistent follow-ups demonstrate to the team that their concerns are taken seriously and that continuous improvement is a priority, ultimately supporting a collaborative and efficient workplace.

Follow-up is vital to good conflict resolution, so you must check back in to view the results of your negotiations. Is everyone abiding by the agreement? Are both parties satisfied with the outcome? Are boundaries being observed? If not, you may invite everyone to your office for a second conversation to de-escalate the situation before it repeats. In extreme cases, you may have to call upon your strong leadership skills and good judgment to make a difficult decision, such as demotion or termination.
