Empathy in Guest Services At Disney Cruise Line, my role as Manager of Guest Services required me to ensure smooth operations while maintaining high guest satisfaction. While there are lots of comments from hospitality professionals on areas of leadership such as creating relationships, leading with empathy, and communicating clearly, it's not surprising that there are none here, and that's because we need to focus more on fostering innovation in hospitality. For me, the key component to this is being around people from different industries - mostly because they're not stuck with the limited perspective we can all be guilty of having. Diversity in the humans around you is everything including their professional and life experiences. Seek it out, listen, and it will allow for the best opportunity for innovation to thrive.

We are in the world where AI doing your long email draft, mobile phone can open your hotel room door, robot will serve your food in the restaurant, check-in will happen without human touch. All the innovation is still great. I still believe pick up your phone and talk to the guest to finalize the booking and their needs, open a conversation during check-in not sterio type check-in and even open car door when a guest arrive in the hotel Drive. This old tradition innovation can still give long lasting impression to any hotel customers. That shows your real characteristics as a Hotelier.
