I have founded two venture businesses, invested and built over 100 companies, and raised billions of dollars over the years. What we have learned is that it is important to truly understand what motivates people, how they approach challenges, and what their needs are. It can be tempting to move quickly to the problem at hand, and not spend the time to really get to know people on an individual level. In the long run, this will cost us. Making the investment upfront to understand and support the people we work with will pay long term dividends.

Maslow says "start at the bottom of pyramid" that is basics needs assessment. So it rings clear to us that we cannot say we care for you if we do not take the "time" to get to know you. Experience working in various fields, and I have one major advice--always have respect and trust for those "you" hire or partner based on confidence in your research, and personal interaction with those you are considering to "hire", or to "partner" with. If you feel that respect and trust does not registered with you--using your values--as you interact with potential hire, or partner--politely do not hire nor partner.

I think, bring in team members with skills,including financial analysis, industry expertise, operational experience, and network connections. And also encourage open communication within the team to understand each member’s perspectives.

A VC team works in two directions at once. 1. Identifying new trends / products / companies ; Resulting in opportunities to invest And Resulting in Threats analysis to existing investments. 2. Managing investee companies. While every team member has a KRA assigned the situation in investment business is pretty fluid. Everyone has to do everything. Every time. That’s why the money is great. Training team members is a huge task for partners and chief of staff. If this is done right : the expectations are in place. The team is smart enough to work in the right direction at the right pace.
