Potlucks. Potlucks might just save the friggin world. And I'm not just talking potlucks with food you consciously bring to share with others, I'm talking about music you bring and art you bring and wisdom you bring and stories and stories and stories... Remind each other, through all those things, what you're working to save. Remind each other, by looking each other in the eye, the love that's at the root of it all. Laugh when it occasionally fails and study what works well because those that are in this world now deserve a better one. And, if we do it right, the great, great, greats of the future who point to us as their family will tell their stories, sing their songs, share their art and revel in the wisdom we passed on to them.

-It’s important to be as healthy as you can when organizing, so I have to exercise, get a good rest and be in a good headspace to do the work. Having a great foundation increases my capacity to organize for long stretches of time, even if it’s 7 days a week for a month. - Another really important thing is motivating members or volunteers, and recognizing their hard work. - Lastly burnout happens, so you have to be aware when that time is approaching so you can fill your cup to avoid it. The work never ends, but rest is necessary to do the best job possible and to have longevity in community organizing. - Show the community love too. Cookouts and music go a long way, and is part of rest and cup refilling for the community you’re a part of

-One step at a time, it’s easier to lose details and valuable small nuances, slows time down aiding presence, rather than get ahead or behind yourself as team and individually -Empower vulnerable=embraces full selves, then you can break the capacities you thought there were and break any expectations you assumed before - Let people discover and share their assets and areas to work, helps every person become better and doesn’t leave anyone to their shilohs in a COMMUNITY - Spend time outside of organizing, developing real relationships outside of business. One thing I've found helpful, are to prioritize tasks, set boundaries, leverage community support, celebrate small wins, remember your purpose, use tools of organization, seek guidance and practice self-care. Because being overwhelmed by community organizing responsibilities is completely normal, especially when you're juggling multiple impact projects and initiatives.

One thing that I found helpful is creating an active spreadsheet, following the RACI model, which helps to keep track of the ongoing tasks and responsibilities. It's also easier for each member to understand their own duties and responsibilities as well as their supervisory duties. Another thing is encouraging each community member to keep the Eisenhower matrix for their delegated tasks to prioritise their day-to-day tasks and weekly submissions.

At our core it’s about sharing human interactions and being vulnerable. When we share and are open that’s when organic things happen. The world’s most innovative ideas, inventions, and innovations have come through communal gathering places. Sharing of thoughts and ideas and commitment to selfless giving to community. That’s freedom.
